US Congressman. He was a teacher at the Sparta Academy Missouri, when he was admitted to the bar in 1893 and commenced to practice law in Sparta. In 1891, President Harrison appointed him Postmaster of Sparta Missouri and he was again reappointed postmaster by President McKinley in 1897. In 1905, he was elected as a Republican to the Fifty-ninth Congress and served until 1907. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed his legal career Bartlesville, Missouri, until death at age 66.
