John Edwin Blankenship was the son of Charles Stacy "Charlie" Blankenship and Minnie Bell [Cason] Blankenship. John was the youngest son of the couples 7 children. He was born in the couples home and delivered by Dr. Campbell for a charge of $25.00. When John was 22 years old he married his sweetheart, Pauline Catherine Wilson, on December 25, 1939. Two children, Henry and Mary Ann, were born of this union.

John was an excellent farmer and breeder. He won many awards for his skills in these areas. He loved to make others happy. He would often take his pony buggies and goat pulled carts and participate in parades. Both Pauline and John had a pony buggie! John also enjoyed woodworking and collecting toy trains. He was a beloved husband, father, uncle and brother. He left the world a better place than he found it.
