US Congressman. He moved to Montgomery County, Kentucky, 1808, studied law, was admitted to the bar and commenced to practice law in Mount Sterling, Kentucky. He was a member of the Kentucky State House of representatives in 1812, served in the War of 1812, as a Captain of the 8th United States Infantry, and after the war, was a member of the Kentucky State House of Representatives. In 1827, he was elected as a Jacksonian to the Twentieth, Twenty-first and Twenty-second Congresses, serving until 1833. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 87.
