No tombstone. Body donated to science. I've placed Katie and her two children, Myrtle Elise and Clarence, Jr., here to be close to her family.
Daughter of John Little Daniel and Claudie Augusta Yeldell Daniel
Mother of Clarence Edwin Odom and Myrtle Elise Odom Curtis.
Married 3 times
1. Clarence Edwin Odom - married young and had two children. Clarence went out for an errand one night and never returned. Later it was found that he had trouble with the railroad and it was thought he had embezzled funds. During WWII, Katie's, nephew, Son Sisson, was on a ferry in Hawaii crossing a body of water. Son noticed that a man seemed to be watching him. The Sgt. in charge called Son's name, "Hey, Sisson." Later the man walked over to Son and began a conversation and asked about people in Mer Rouge. Son eventually figured out that the man was Clarence Edwin Odom, his Aunt Katie's long lost husband. Son was able to tell Katie. Eventually, Katie moved to California and was with Clarence when he died in a VA hospital 1945. She never told her mother.
More to the story of Clarence Edwin Odom - through Ancestry.com, I was contacted by Edwin Allen King. He said he was the son of Clarence Edwin Odom who had changed his name to Edward Lee King. I hope we can eventually find more of "Clarence's Story."
2. Mr. Evans - worked for Georgia Pacific paper mill in West Monroe. Don't know how long the marriage lasted.
3. S.T. "Hump" Campbell - with "Hump" Katie found the love of her life. Katie and Hump lived in Lompoc, CA and Augusta, GA
Katie worked as a miliner and also rented rooms in her home. One of the main men who started Delta Airlines boarded with her. He wanted to pay his rent in Delta stock. Unfortunately, Katie needed the money and could not accept the stock. Wouldn't it have been wonderful if she could have gotten Delta stock in the beginning.
Katie, Myrtle Elise and Clarence all donated their bodies to science. Their Find a Grave memorials are here to be close to family.
