Jack H. McDonald, age 81 passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon, October 6, 2013 at the Brown County Health & Living Community in Nashville. By his side were his loving children, Diana L. (Brent) Biddle and James K. "Jim" (Kathy) McDonald both of Brown County.

Jack is also survived by his seven grandchildren: Abigail Whitaker of Martinsville, Hannah Biddle of North Carolina, Sarah Kunz of Wisconsin, Megan, Matthew & Tricia McDonald and Christopher Bailey all of Brown County. He will be remembered by his great granddaughter: Madison Arnold and great grandson and namesake Jackson Michael McDonald, who was born October 8th, 2013, and two more great grandchildren expected soon; also a daughter in law: Catrina McDonald of Brown County.

Jack was preceded in death by one son: Michael L. "Mike" McDonald and one cousin: Bill McDonald.

Jack was born in Indianapolis on March 20, 1932 to his parents, the late Cecil Herbert and Gladys M. (Christie) McDonald. He was a 1950 graduate of Helmsburg High School and went on to serve as a Machine Accountant with the United States Air Force. After the service, he went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Business from Indiana University in Bloomington. While attending IU, he was a member of the Sigma Phi Fraternity.

On June 25, 1961 in Eminence, Jack married Nina Jo (Lewis) McDonald. Together they enjoyed 43 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on March 29, 2005. After college, Jack was accepted into The Kroger Company Management Training Program and in 1962 went on to own and operate the McDonald's (IGA) Shopworth Store in Bean Blossom for over 50 years. The store was his life for those 50 plus years. Jack knew no strangers and his customers were his friends.

He was a 50 year member of the Nashville Masonic Lodge #135 and a former member of the Nashville Kiwanis Club. Jack served on many boards including: Past President of the Nashville State Bank, Wetterau Foods Inc., Brown County Board of Corrections, Weeping Willow Cemetery and was a former Brown County Historian. He was one of the founders of the Brown County Little League and Youth Football and ran the very first concession stand at the Brown County High School out of his truck at the football games during the 1970's.

Jack enjoyed playing golf, sketching & painting and listening to Bluegrass music.

The Revs. Darrel Miller and Gary Link will conduct a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Bean Blossom Mennonite Church, 1726 St. Rd. 135 in Bean Blossom. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church. The Nashville Masonic Lodge will conduct a Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at the Weeping Willow Cemetery in Bean Blossom with Military Graveside Rites presented by the Brown County Honor Guard. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith - Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
