Born in Macon County, NC, he was the son of the late Albert Potts and Fannie Russell Potts Buchanan.
Mr. Potts retired from Attaway-Easterlin Pontiac following 50 years of service and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are a daughter, Sandra Floyd and husband, Danny, of Easley; a son, John Lyndon Potts of Ft. Myers, FL; three sisters, Edna Rich of Atlanta, GA, America Hedden of Franklin, NC and Gladys Paige of New York; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 22, 2011 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, January 23, 2011 from 12:00 p.m. until 12:45 p.m. prior to the service at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will be held Sunday, January 23, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the downtown chapel. Burial will follow in the Stewart Family Cemetery, Cullowee, NC.
The family will be at the residence.
