John J. Potts, 89, widower of Dorothy Stewart Potts, died Friday, January 21, 2011 at Greenville Memorial Medical Center.
Born in Macon County, NC, he was the son of the late Albert Potts and Fannie Russell Potts Buchanan.
Mr. Potts retired from Attaway-Easterlin Pontiac following 50 years of service and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are a daughter, Sandra Floyd and husband, Danny, of Easley; a son, John Lyndon Potts of Ft. Myers, FL; three sisters, Edna Rich of Atlanta, GA, America Hedden of Franklin, NC and Gladys Paige of New York; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Boy Scouts of America, 715 Betsy Drive, #B6, Columbia, SC 29210.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 22, 2011 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, January 23, 2011 from 12:00 p.m. until 12:45 p.m. prior to the service at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will be held Sunday, January 23, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the downtown chapel. Burial will follow in the Stewart Family Cemetery, Cullowee, NC.
