Yvonne Elva White was born January 16, 1944 at Cresco, Howard Co., Iowa to parents Russell James White (1913 – 1971) and Clara Gustava Morch-White (1918 – 2008). Registrar of Vital Statistics, Des Moines, Polk Co.,IA, Birth Registration -No. 45-3

She was baptized as an infant on June 10, 1944 at Cresco, Howard Co., IA.

Living on a farm has so many stories, and chores. She Loved walking up the creek looking for pretty stones, liking the outdoors.

She started 4-H at the age of 9.continuing on up and through age 18. Remembering even now, how her mother helped teach her how to refinish and recover a wooden stool, her first project. Modeling for a fashion show, and receiving a Blue Ribbon on a dress that went to the State Fair.

While going to the Vernon Springs #6 school, Yvonne took 2nd place at the County Spelling Bee. She Received good attendance in Sunday School.

Shortly after starting 7th grade the family moved to rural P.O Address Luana, Clayton Co.,IA. Attending the Luana School, followed by High School in which her favorite subjects were Geometry and Home Ec.

She was in girls glee club; received a Salesmanship award. Loved her grandma Cora Elizabeth Shepperd-Morch, talking about anything.

After the consolidation of the high schools to M-F-L in Monona Yvonne received 18 May 1962 Honor achieved in Speech and Dramatics.

Thursday July 25, 1963 she graduated and Received her Cosmetology License from Americana Academy of Beauty in Des Moines, Polk Co.,Iowa. Worked for renoun Mark Harriman, specializing in long hair in Des Moines, followed by Arlene Bovee Beauty Salon in Marquette, Iowa. Yvonne brought new trends to a laid back county.

In 1972 she got her first motorcycle while living in East Amana, Iowa. Afterward progressing to a larger one, followed by a trike.

Through her married years Yvonne took special interest in looking for mushrooms and ginseng, and sewing many years for girls and Tupelo Children's Ophanage. She Worked mostly assembly: at Amana Refrigeration at Amana, Iowa making refrigerators; Doerr Electric in Anamosa, Iowa making motors; In Cedar Rapids it was assembly again and also in Des Moines.Iowa.

She was curious of differing religions,, receiving diplomas of Bible Study, and also using them as stepping stones; and on the 2nd of Nov. 1983 received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost. On Nov. 9, 1983 she received an adult baptism, by Pastor R. W. Addington. After this she helped sponsor a child in the Tupelo Childrens Orphanage, and wrote a Poem for the Addington family on the loss of their child.

Yvonne had always liked to draw and at the Jones County Fair took both 1st and 2nd in the Wood Category. Drawing on Walking sticks and then wood burning the pictures. Her son James Russell Townsend is in possession of the 1st place one.

Her beloved Great Uncle Elmer Marvin Sheppard gave her 2 chairs which she had stripped and glued, and then drew on an Eagle and woodburnt it in. Son Anthony Townsend is in possession of it.

Through all these years Yvonne had a deep interest in the American Indian, history, and culture; still loved the outdoors, flowers, and camping…and for a time took up fishing.

In the 80's Yvonne added another interest, becoming the Family Genealogist, andin 2010-2011 helping making this Family TREE.

In 2009, She became a member of HON'R (House of No Religion).

Paid up Membership in the Cremation Society of Eastern-Central-Western Iowa Phone: 888-871-3361 and 319-378-3361.

Her Ashes are sprinkled in the Gooding Cemetery, Wagner twp.,Clayton Co.,Iowa atop the grave of beloved grandma Cora Elizabeth Shepperd-Morch.

Yvonne said she was "Paying It Forward" by writing her own Obituary.
