Conducted by the Rev. Victor Ross and the Rev. Paul Tankersley, funeral services for Rufus Adkins of 19 North Florida Avenue will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Shiloh Methodist Church in Anderson County, near Piedmont. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery, with military honors in charge of a group from Donaldson Air Force Base.
Pallbearers, who will meet at the home at 1 p.m. Wednesday will be Charles Adkins, Ed Lee, John Lee, Frank Lee and William Lee, all of Piedmont, and Wallace Reid of this city.

Mr. Adkins' sudden death occurred at his home at 10:10 o'clock Sunday night. He had been in declining health for the past three years. He was born in Anderson County November 21, 1894, a son of the late Jesse A. and Lida (Lee) Adkins, and had lived at Piedmont, and later in Oak Ridge, Tenn. Because of his health he returned to the city one year ago.
He was a member of Judson Lodge 319, AFM and of the Dunean Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bertha McCraw Adkins; one son, Joe D. Adkins of the United States Air Force, stationed at Shepard Air Force Base, Tex.; three daughters, Mrs. Paul Smith, Anderson; Mrs. Earle Humphries, Greenville; and Mrs. Herbert Wright, Spartanburg; five brothers, W.F. Adkins and Joe Adkins, Piedmont; James Adkins, Easley; Grady Adkins, Anderson and Charlie Adkins, Melbourne, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Harry B. Reid, Piedmont, and Mrs. L.D. Ingle, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and eight grandchildren.
