Rev. William Robert Roberts, 56, died Aug. 11, 2007, in Florence, S.C. He was born in Union County to the late Boyd and Ola Lea Welty Roberts. He was a member of the Blue Mountain Masonic Lodge; a graduate of East Union High School in Blue Springs; a graduate of Northeast Miss. Community College in Booneville; a graduate of Erskine Theological Seminary in Due West, S.C., from which he received his Master of Divinity. He served 10 years as pastor of Pleasant Hill ARP in Heath Springs, S.C. and 3 1/2 years as pastor of Effingham Presbyterian in Effingham, S.C. He served as Historian for the General Synod of the ARP Church and as Chairman of the Minister and His Works Commission for the Catawba Presbytery.

Services were at Ebenezer Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church with burial in the Ebenezer Cemetery. United Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors included his wife, Virginia Warrington Roberts of the home; three children; Julie Garst (C.J.) and Emily Roberts, all of Florence, S.C., and Brandon Roberts of Chester, S.C.; one grandchild; two brothers, Shirley Roberts and wife, Ernestine, of New Albany, and Mike Roberts and wife, Susan; of Ripley; two sisters, Elizabeth Davis and Carolyn McClure and husband, Ted, all of New Albany; and one brother-in-law, Mike Hall and wife, Becky, of Corinth.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Jane Hall; and one brother-in-law, Ray Davis.
