CLARKSVILLE TIMES 19 Feb 1970 '40 Years Ago' died in Waco, body returned to Clarksville for burial, CLARKSVILLE TIMES 25 Jun 1970, 40 Years Ago -- Dedication of Masonic Marker honoring past Grand Master, born on 1 Oct 1844 in Louisville KY, death in Waco TX on 15 Feb 1930, RED RIVER RECOLLECTIONS page 378 and marriage records: married first Kate McDougal on 10 May 1870, married second Ella Fulbright on 2 Jul 1873, married third Mira Nowlin on 11 Jan 1877, married fourth very late in life, JOLLY FUNERAL HOME Book 5 page 235, OBIT: DETROIT NEWS HERALD 20 Feb 1930 from microfilm in the Clarksville Library: age 85 years, one of Red River County's pioneers, died at his home in Waco Saturday and was buried in Clarksville Sunday afternoon. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Georgie Watson of Waco, 2 sons, Dr. Nowlin and Dr. Gavin Watson and three daughters., OBIT: DEPORT TIMES 21 Feb 1930, Friday, from microfilm in the Clarksville Library: John Watson, 85, past grand master and past grand secretary of the Masonic Grand Lodge of Texas, died at his home at Waco Saturday and was buried Sunday at Clarksville at which place his Masonic membership was held. In the absence of the grand master from the state, Deputy Grand Master Judge James F. McClendon of Austin, was in charge of the funeral services. Mr. Watson, who was a native of Kentucky had lived in Texas 76 years. He was a Confederate soldier and his memories of the reconstruction period was very vivid. He had served the legislature and had served as grand lecturer of the Masonic Grand Lodge., MARRIAGE: John Watson married Kate McDougal on 10 May 1870 in RRCo TX Book B page 378, MARRIAGE: John Watson married Ella Fulbright on 2 Jul 1873 in RRCo TX Book C page 214, MARRIAGE: John Watson married Mira Nowlin on 11 Jan 1877 in RRCo TX Book D page 159. From Civil War Veterans buried or dying in Red River County, Texas by Lawrence and Sue Dale.
