Grandma Stratton: Mary Jane Glover was born in Blount County, Alabama to Daniel and Elizabeth Bynum Glover. During the Civil War her father died young, her maternal grand-father, William Bynum, was murdered, and her Brother William Glover was killed at the Battle of Murfreesboro. She came with her widowed mother whose life was completely torn apart by the war, to Hardin County, along with her sister Sarah and brothers John and George Glover, just after the war. John died young, and Sarah died in childbirth. Only George and Jane were left. Jane had two children, Cordie and Elizabeth "Betty" with her first husband, Richard Stewart. She was widowed in 1882, and in 1884 married the then recently widowed Henry Wilson Stratton, with whom she had six more Children: Leatha, Sarah, Marvin, Beulah, Josie, and Mary Hannah.
