HOMSEY Samuel Richard, of Oklahoma City was born on September 17, 1916, in Greenville, TX, to Richard and Hefeetha (Mama Joe) Homsey. He went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 24, 2002, from which he lived 85 beautiful years loving his family and friends and all who knew him. He grew up in Depew, OK, where he graduated from Depew High School, before his family moved to Oklahoma City in 1936. In 1941 he met the love of his life, Margaret Lee Cohlmia, who he is survived by after 60 years of marriage along with their adoring children, Dr. Richard & Cindy Homsey, Connie & Franklin Naifeh, Cookie & Roger Deeba, and Mickey & Sydney Homsey, all of Oklahoma City. He is also survived by his 11 precious grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren whom he deeply adored. He will be especially missed by his brothers, Benny & Dolores and Harry & Yevonne Homsey and sisters, Imogene Naifeh & Blanche David and sister-in-law Bernice Homsey all of Oklahoma City who admired and loved him dearly. In 1942, he entered World War II as an Infantryman in the 95th Division. He became a decorated soldier receiving two purple hearts. In 1945, after his honorable discharge, he returned to Oklahoma City. He and his brothers founded American Candy Company, which later became American Mutual Company commonly known as A.M.C. He was an active member in St. Elijah Orthodox Christian Church where he served on the Board and numerous committees. He also was active in the Order of St Ignatius since its conception. He was a member of The 36th Blue Lodge, a 32nd Degree Mason receiving his fifty-year pin, and a member of the Indian Temple Shrine. He was an honorary member of the Moore Noon Lions Club and a Charter member of the ShaBaab Club. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Hefeetha (Mama Joe) Homsey and brothers, Joe and Paul. Although we have lost our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, big brother and devoted friend, he has left us his living legacy of strong faith in God, love and devotion to family and friends and precious treasured memories of his life stories shared with us in his Empty Chair. The family of Samuel Richard Homsey would like to cordially thank the nurses and staff of INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center on the seventh floor ICU and the ninth floor west for the tender loving care they gave to our loved one, Sam. Our deepest appreciation goes out to each and every one of you who touched his life. May God Bless you all. The Trisagion Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, February 26, 2002, at St. Elijah Orthodox Christian Church, 15000 N. May Ave., with the funeral service at 10:30 AM on Wednesday.
