STATESBORO, Ga. - Mrs. Alma Hendrix Ingram Edenfield, age 93, went to live with her Heavenly Father at 5:47 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2011, at Southern Manor. She was born in Nevils, Ga., on September 2, 1917. She was the oldest member of Fletcher Memorial Baptist Church. Alma was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lula Hendrix; one sister, Florence H. (Bob) Ward; and three brothers, Lonnie (Ethel) Hendrix, Doy Hendrix and Bill (Vera) Hendrix. Also two husbands, Elwood Ingram and David E. "Dock" Edenfield.
Alma is survived by five children, Mildred Ingram, Randy (Lannette) Edenfield, Jimmy (Debbie) Edenfield, Doy (Cathy) Edenfield and Kay (Jimmy) Anthony, all of Statesboro; her loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren and three special sisters-in-law, Cleo Mallard and Ruby Edenfield, both of Statesboro, and Bernice Edenfield of Swainsboro.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Andrew officiating. Interment will be in Eastside Cemetery with the Rev. Don Patterson officiating.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Alma's Southern Manor Inn "family" and Fletcher Memorial Church's Senior Saints.
The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care given to their mother by Southern Manor Retirement Inn, Ogeechee Area Hospice and her loving doctor of more than 35 years, Dr. Randy Smith.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the VA Transition Services Center for Wounded Warriors, Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center, 950 1st Street, Augusta, GA 30904.
