HUDSON - Mr. Gene Edward Alexander 72, of Mac Drive, Hudson, died March 26, 1997 at Columbia Davis Hospital, Statesville. Funeral is 3 p.m. Friday, March 28, 1997, at Prospect Presbyterian Church, Mooresville, with Rev. Lisa T. Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Memorial Park, Mooresville. Visitation is 7-8:30 p.m. today at Cavin Funeral Home, Mooresville and other times at the home of Frank & Betty Alexander.

Born in Iredell County, NC, Mr. Alexander was a retired Truck Driver with Carolina Freight Carriers. Survivors include his wife, Katherine Brown Alexander of the home; daughters, Renee McLelland and Kay Alexander, both of Mooresville, and Debbie Brown of Milledgeville, GA; brothers, Frank D. Alexander of Mooresville, Robert E. Alexander and Grady S. Alexander, both of Charlotte; sisters, Virginia Hedrick of Mooresville, and Mary Crouch of Stony Point, NC; and one great-grandchild, Alexandria McLelland.

Dorothy "D-Dot" Nell Sherrill Alexander, 87, of Mooresville, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2017 at her residence. She was born on May 22, 1929 in Rowan County, NC, to the late Tommy Sherrill and Nell Armstrong Sherrill Wilson. Ms. Alexander was a member of Prospect Presbyterian Church in Mooresville. She was very proud of her family, her girls were the apple of her eye and she loved spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Hager. She is survived by her daughters, Kay Cornelison and husband, Dan, Renee McLelland and husband, Tommy both of Mooresville; sister, Margaret Bradshaw of Mooresville; grandchildren, Ally and Tom McLelland, Alex and Anna-Claire Cornelison, and Curtis Cornelison and wife, Cassie; and beloved caregiver, Theola Peek. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, May 7 at Prospect Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Milholland officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00-3:00 PM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Prospect Presbyterian Church, 9425 W NC 152 Hwy, Mooresville, NC 28115. Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville, is serving the Alexander family.
