Some sources claim he was German-born while others say Perry County, Pennsylvania. His obituary in the Perry County Democrat claims he was born in Germany but on October 3, 1827. The son of Christian Frederick & Anna Elisabeth Gellbach Horn[e], he married Caroline Mickey November 1, 1849, in Carroll Township, Perry County, and fathered William Henry (b, 02/15/50), Mary Ann (b. 10/29/51), George Washington (b. 06/10/53), Catharine Elizabeth (b. 02/23/55 - married a Braught), Christian Frederick (b. 09/10/56), Susan A.
