Kathryn Sue Johnston, 30 of Winnetka, California formerly of Fayette City, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 13, 2011. Born October 9, 1980 in Pittsburgh, she is the beloved daughter of Howard and Karen (Trunzo) Johnston of Fayette City. Katie was a 1998 graduate of Frazier High School and a 2003 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh where she majored in English Literature. She was well read and an avid reader who consumed hundreds of books, she enjoyed watching college football, especially the Pitt Panthers. She spent most of the last three years in the state of California where she loved the warm weather. Katie loved her family dearly and was especially delighted to have a nephew. Her favorite activity was family vacations on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. She had a generous heart and was quick to help others. She loved animals, especially dogs. In addition to her parents she is survived by her brother Matthew and wife Megan Johnston of Astoria, Oregon; her nephew Taytum Carter, maternal grandparents Dorothy and Eugene Trunzo of New Eagle; aunts and uncles Jack and Janice Johnston of Monongahela; Betty and Bob Pyle of Indian Lake; Bob and Nancy Johnston of Lone Pine; Faye and Lee Shevel of Oro Valley, Arizona; Joan Paolini of Athens, Georgia; many loving cousins and her dachshund dog, Bailey. Preceding her in death were her paternal grandparents Ethel and John Johnston, as well as aunt Ruth (Johnston) Gast and an uncle, Ken Trunzo. Friends will be received at the Marshall Marra Funeral Home, 216 Chess Street, Monongahela, 724-258-6767, marshallmarrafuneralhome.com from 6-9pm on (TBA) where services will be held on (TBA) at (TBA)am with Rev. Raymond DiCammilo officiating. Interment will be private at the family's request.
