DANBURY, NC ~ Mr. Lawrence Ahaz Wood, 84, of Fire Rescue Lane, Danbury, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007, at Stokes-Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Danbury.

Mr. Wood was born March 4, 1923, in Stokes County to the late William Wood and the late Minnie Roberts Wood.

He was a retired self-employed farmer and carpenter. He was a member of the Snow Creek Old Time Band.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Doris Rhodes Wood; a daughter, Judy Gray Thorpe; a son, Michael Dean Wood; and three brothers, Hanes Wood, Theron Wood and Delbert Wood.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, of which he was a member, with the Rev. Donald McHone, the Rev. Randy Cook and Dr. James Wall officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 21, at Ray Funeral Home, and all other times at his residence.

Ray Funeral Home in Madison is serving the family.
