A son of James A. & Jeannie (Nimmo) Carter. He was a graduate of Fairbury High school, Ilinois Wesleyan Univ. and Illinois State University. He taught in Ohio schools until 1951. He was Principal of Saunenim Grade School for several years and taught music at Woodland school. He married Dorothy M. McElhiney at Normal on June 14, 1928. She died Nov. 20, 1976.
