Widow of the late Tom Amer senior dies

Ms. Emma Louise Amer 84 widow of the late Tom Amer senior passed away at her home in Mapleton last night at 1030 following a short illness.
Ms. Amer was stricken with a pain in her side about noon yesterday and gradually grew worse until her death.
Ms. Amer was a pioneer resident of Mapleton neighborhood and was very favorably known.

She came to Kansas when a small child with her parents and settlement in Mapleton.. She had lived in that community practically all Her life.
Emma Louise Castle was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Castle and was born in Ottawa Illinois on January 22, 1855. She was United in marriage to Tom Amer on October 15, 1870 at Mapleton, and they celebrated their 66 wedding anniversary in 1936. Mr. Amer passed away on March 8, 1937.
Ms. Amer was very devoted to her home and family and was a faithful member of the Mapleton Methodist Church, always active in the church and in the community.
She is survived by the following children, John Amer, Nettie Amer ,and Nellie Coyan, all of Mapleton , Ms. Emma Amer of the home, Tom aimer of Prescott . , former sheriff of Linn County, . Mrs. Florence Henthorne of Lliff Colo. And Ms. Hazel Johnson of Fort Scott. Two children are deceased . She also leaves one sister, Ms. Ida Keith of grand mound Iowa, and 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 230 o'clock at the Methodist Church at Mapleton, interment will be made in the Mapleton cemetery .
