Funeral services for James Harrison Danner, 84, of Rt. 1, Wytheville, who died Sunday afternoon in a Roanoke Hospital, were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Barnett Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Abbott and the Rev. Robert Bean officiating. Interment followed in the West End Cemetery.
Mr. Danner was a member of the Max Meadows United Methodist Church, a member of Mercer Masonic Lodge #160 A.F. & A.M. at Bluefield, W. Va. and was retired from N. & W. Railroad as an engineer with approximately fifty years of service.
Surviving are one son, Melvin Fred Danner of Newport News; two daughters, Mrs. F.N. (Ethel) Ayers of Max Meadows and Mrs. Benjamin Randolph (Emily) White of Wytheville; four sisters, Mrs. W.S. (Bess) Armentrout of Wytheville, Mrs. Willie Anderson of Staunton, Mrs. Dallas (Mary) Hudson of Lake Charles, La., Mrs. C.R. (Laura) Blanchard of Martinsville; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.
The family will receive friends at the Barnett Funeral Home after 7 p.m. tonight (Tuesday). However, friends may call at the home of his daughters, Mrs. F.N. (Ethel) Ayers in Max Meadows or Mrs. Benjamin Randolph (Emily) White, 815 Holston Road in Wytheville, at any time.
Barnett Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Members of the Wytheville Masonic Lodge #82 AF & AM will serve as pallbearers and conduct graveside rites.
