READSTOWN, Wis. - Hazel Holcomb, 86, of Viroqua, Wis, formerly of Readstown, passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at her home. She was born on Nov. 5, 1914, in Readstown, to Charles and Amanda (Guist) Carter. She married Orville Holcomb on Nov. 14, 1934, in the Sugar Grove Church of Christ. They lived all their lives on the Holcomb farm, rural Readstown.

Orville preceded her in death on Aug. 18, 1991. She then moved to Viroqua. She was a member of the Readstown Church of Christ and the Viroqua Eagles Club. Among her hobbies were knitting and growing flowers.
She is survived by three sons; two daughters; 18 grand -children; 34 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; four step-granddaughters; step-great-grandchildren; two sisters; and one brother-in-law; also surviving are nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Herbert and Preston Carter; one grandson, Robert Raymond; and one nephew, Charles Carter.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2001, at 1 p.m. at the Readstown Church of Christ. Pastor Joe Adams will officiate and burial will be in the Readstown Cemetery. Friends may call at the Sime Funeral Home in Readstown on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., and on Saturday at the church from noon until time of service.
