The Rev. William H. Carroll

The Rev. William H. Carroll, 88, died Wednesday, May 9, 2001, at St. Francis Hospital & Health Centers in Beech Grove. He was a resident of Indianapolis.

He was born June 22, 1912, in Newton Stewart. His parents were John H. and Ida M. (Gilliatt) Carroll. He married Esther (Bowman) Carroll. She preceded him in death. He then married Juanita M. (Williams) Overmyer Carroll on Dec. 23, 1984. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Rosalee Asbell of Ventura, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Rita Deal of Greenwood; a stepson, E. Wayne Overmyer of Jonesboro; a brother, Lee Carroll of Hobe Sound, Fla.; two sisters, Bessie Taylor of Frankfort and Geneva Crosswaite of Milford, Ohio; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, W. Eldon Carroll; three brothers; and four sisters, .

He was a minister of the Wesleyan Church, retiring in 1984, having served pastorates at Lynn, Indianapolis west side, Scott City and Bloomfield. He previously served Emmanual Missionary Church as general superintendent. His ministry encompassed a period of 50 years.

He attended Southeastern Holiness Church.

The Revs. Don Staley and Ernest R. Batman will conduct a service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus.
