William Henry Breece was born in Martinsburg in Ripley County, Missouri. When he was a toddler, he and his three sisters were brought to the Shetley's Creek area and abandoned at the Baptist church. People in the community raised the Breece children: Mary Jane, who married Benton Skaggs and is buried here also; Lucretia Parolee; Morning/Miranda Bird; and William Henry.

He married Cora Ann Creasy on 30 July 1882 in Fredericktown, Madison County, MO.

OBITUARY: William Breece, aged 47 years, a well known citizen of this place, died at his home here last Sunday afternoon of appoplexy. Mr. Breece had been a sufferer of the fatal disease for some time and had had several severe strokes. He retired Friday evening complaining of feeling badly, and during the night he suffered another stroke. He was unconcious Saturday morning and never became conscious again, death occurred about 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon. The deceased was a member of the Baptist church and the funeral service was conducted by Rev. Whitfield, pastor of that church, Tuesday morning, after which the remains were taken to Marquand for burial. The deceased is survived by a widow and six daughters, who have the sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement.
