OBIT Henry Smothers May 8, 1891
Henry Smothers, whose death at the home of his son in Bascom last Friday, has already been announced in the ADVERTISER, was born in Franklin County, Ohio, September 25, 1813, and was consequently aged seventy-seven years, seven months, and thirteen days. At the age of eighteen years, the deceased located in this county and in 1832 was married to Catherine Smothers, and one son and eight daughters were the result of this union. The son and four daughters survive. Mr. Smothers was a member of the Bascom United Brethern church and his funeral was conducted by his pastor, Rev. James A. Young, last Sunday, and a large concourse of friends followed his body to the grave.
