Mason Funeral to be held Today
John Mason, a resident of Morgan and Scott County for more than 60 years, passed away at 3:00 o'clock this morning, at the home of his son, George Mason, five and one-half miles northeast of Murrayville. He had been in declining health for several months.
Mr. Mason was born in Yorkshire England, March 10, 1844. He came to Illinois in 1868 and was engaged in farming for a long period.
His wife preceded him in death six years ago. He leaves two sons, George and John Mason of the Murrayville Community; two daughters, Mrs. James Adams, Woodson, and Mrs. Willard McKean, Roodhouse.
Funeral services will be held at the residence at 10:30 o'clock Friday morning in charge of Rev. Roy March of Whitehall. Burial will be in Diamond Grove Cemetery.
Note: John is the son of George and Jane Vasey Mason
The obit immigration date doesn't agree with the marriage date on the tombstone for his first wife, or with the death date of his second wife Mary Ellen McCorkle Mason. Perhaps he was married a third time.
