Phyllis Jean Hager, 83, of Montoursville, passed away, Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011 at the Gatehouse.

She was born Feb. 16, 1927, in Jersey Shore, the daughter of Wilson E. and Martha Jane Crist Billman.

Phyllis was the wife of Kenneth T. Hager, with whom she married on June 10, 1947 at the Little Church Around the Corner in New York City.

She retired in 1986 as an elementary teacher after 26 years in Clearwater, Fla. and one year in the Montoursville School District.

Phyllis graduated from Jersey Shore High School in 1945 and the Lock Haven Teacher's College in 1958.

She obtained her master's degree at University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla.

Phyllis enjoyed knitting, crocheting, traveling and reading.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; a sister, Ruth B. (George R.) Kissell of Montoursville and many nieces and nephews.

In keeping with her wishes, funeral services will be officiated by Rev. James R. Bramer and held privately with her family. Burial will be in Jersey Shore Cemetery.

Family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, Lycoming Unit, 1948 E. Third Street #A, Williamsport, PA 17701.

Arrangements are being handled by the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, Ltd., "A Life Celebration Home," 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore.
