Blake Thomas Sessums Sr. was born 23 January 1803 in Edgecombe County North Carolina. His parents were Alexander Sessums and Elizabeth Blount Sessums. He married Lucinda C. Bass on 7 April 1828 in Halifax County NC. Their children were Ormond Henry 1829-1850, Emily Elizabeth 1830, Napoleon Turner 1832-1863, Blake Thomas Jr 1833-1910, Dolly Louise(Ida) 1836-1875, Isaac 1838-1839, & Lake Erie 1840-1883. Later they moved to Lawrence County Tennessee. In 1844 they were moving to Louisiana when Lucinda died just outside of Jackson, Mississippi. The family continued on to Floyd, West Carroll Parish, Louisiana, and Blake was a school teacher during the 1850 census. He died 1 April 1859 and is probably buried on the family farm.
