Napoleon Turner Sessums was born 16 July 1832 in Lawrence County Tennessee. His parents were Blake Thomas Sessums SR and Lucinda C. Bass, both natives of North Carolina. About 1844 he moved to West Carroll Parish(near Floyd), Louisiana and farmed there until the Civil War. He married Maria Ellen Sessums and had 2 daughters, Mary Lucinda b.1857 and Nancy Eliza b 1859. Napoleon and his brother Blake Thomas Sessums Jr both served as Privates in Company C, 31st Louisiana Infantry Regiment. Napoleon died at Vicksburg between April and July 1863.
