YORK - John Burgess Davis Jr., 80, a lifelong native of York County and a resident of Grafton, died Friday, June 18.
Mr. Davis retired in 1969 after 22 years with James River Reserve Fleet, and he was a self-employed antique furniture refinisher. He was a member of Woodmen of the World, Providence United Methodist Church, Dare, and Adult Men's Bible Class.
Survived by his wife, Etter Harris Davis; a daughter, Ellen Foster of Big Bear Lake, Calif.; two sisters, Rosa Olsen of Grafton and Frances P. Fieldman of Jupiter, Fla.; two brothers, Alton B. Davis of Lynchburg and Franklin B. Davis of Durham, N.C.; and three grandchildren.
Visitation from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight at Amory Funeral Home, Grafton. Graveside service 11 a.m. Monday in Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery by the Rev. David Forrest. Edition: Final
