Sylvia Adeline Jones (nee Richardson) passed away April 11, 2011, in Carol Stream, Ill., after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. She was the loving wife of Richard M. Jones; beloved mother of Sylvia Kathleen (Jay S.) Wallace of Wheaton, Ill., Birdia Carolyn (Lemont A.) Moon of Holland Mich., and Richard F. (Laura) Jones of Brentwood, Tenn.; dear sister of Kenneth R. Richardson of Morenci, Mich., Dr. Fred A. Richardson of Stevensville, Mich., and Bydetta Morton of Tecumseh, Mich.; and fond grandmother of six. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred A. and Birdia Richardson of Ypsilanti, Mich., and one brother I. Brookshire Richardson of Boise, Idaho. Sylvia was born Oct. 26, 1928, in Irvine, Ky. She resided in Ypsilanti, Mich., and was a member of Detroit First Church of the Nazarene. She attended Olivet for the 1949 - 1950 school year, where she became engaged to Richard M. Jones, Class of 1950. They married June 27, 1950, in Ypsilanti.. Sylvia was a committed and involved Christian, a loving and devoted wife, a gentle and kind mother and grandmother, and a loyal and caring friend. She exemplified the Fruit of the Spirit for all her days, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law." Galatians 5:22-23. Visitation is today from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Road (one block east of Naperville Road), Wheaton, where the funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Wheaton Cemetery, Wheaton.
