MYRTLE - Anna Ruth Camp Hitt, 83, died Sunday, April 10, 2011, at her residence in Myrtle after a brief illness. She was born Jan. 31, 1928, in Union County to the late John Oliver Camp and Gertrude Whittington Camp. She was a homemaker and a retired teacher's assistant. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at United Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Donnie Schuman officiating. Burial will be in the Glenfield Memorial Park. United Funeral Service in New Albany is in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Eugene Hitt of Myrtle; two daughters, Anna Stanton (Wayne) of Myrtle and Jane Stepp (Jeff) of Ecru; a son, John Hitt (Peggy) of Myrtle; six grandchildren, Alan Hitt and Joey Hitt (Nicole), all of Myrtle, Dana Cobb (Shannon) of Birmingham, Ala., Mark Stanton (Roxanne) of Clinton, and Jessica and Julie Stepp of Ecru; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, W.C. Camp and Boyce Camp.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
