She was born Nov. 15, 1923, in Jerome, the daughter of John Vivian Blunt and Olive Bell Shurtz Blunt. Edith was raised in Jerome and attended schools there. On May 9, 1941, she married S.C. "Dutch" Dillon in Jerome. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.
They shared 57 years together and raised three children. Edith was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in a variety of callings, including three full-time missions with her husband to Tennessee, Texas and South Africa. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend who loved gardening, cooking, canning, sewing, quilting, camping, fishing and reading. Mostly, she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Edith is survived by three children, Virginia (Keith) Farnsworth of Jerome, Ronald (Linda) Dillon of Meridian and Carol Sparks of American Falls. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; six sisters, Edna Shurtz, Lola Kolsen, Vivian Peterson, Irene Thieme, Ada Thomas and Maria Eldredge; and many extended family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dutch; two infant children, Roger and Mary; two sisters, Leona and Mary; three brothers, Jim, Stan and Sheldon "Buzz"; one son-in-law, Michael L. Sparks; and one grandson, Michael J. Farnsworth.
A visitation will be held Thursday, April 14, at Farnsworth Mortuary, 1343 S. Lincoln in Jerome, where family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, April 15, at the Jerome LDS 7th Ward Chapel, 50 E. 100 S. in Jerome, with Bishop Davis Suitter officiating. A visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Interment to follow in the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Twin Falls.
