GRANGER - John E. Kellar, 81, of Granger, Indiana, passed away at 5:25 p.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2011, in the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, after an illness. He was born in Plymouth, Indiana, on December 3, 1929, to James Earl and Lena Marie (Harley) Kellar, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, James Harley Kellar, and sister, Charlotte Kellar Rhoade. Survivors are his good friend and life companion, William H. Hendrix; son, Shane Earl Kellar of South Bend; several nieces and nephews; and an aunt, Dorothea Kane of Chula Vista, California. He graduated from Plymouth Lincoln High School in the Class of 1949. John served in the Army during the Korean War. He retired from Nipsco after 26 years of service. He enjoyed a long and active retirement collecting vintage radios, cars and other antiques. Burial with military honors will take place in Oakhill Cemetery following family services. There will be no visitation. The Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, Plymouth, is assisting with arrangements.
