Obituary:
Mr. Harold "Hal" Jones, age 76, of Grand Haven passed away Sunday, April 10, 2010. He was born September 19, 1934 in Detroit to Robert and Margaret (McSherry) Jones. Harold was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, avid Ham radio operator, a member of NOARC and previous owner of Grand River Gun Shop. He loved life and fought a lengthy struggle against lung disease. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. On February 2, 1981 he married Carol (Figley) Kinkema in Kalamazoo. She survives Hal along with his children: Craig (Brandy) Jones of Fruitport, Michael Jones and Patricia Jones of Detroit; step-children, Steven (Jill) Kinkema, Janice (Jim) Coleman and Michael (Laura) Kinkema; 8 grandchildren, Ashley (Jason) Serne, Phillip Kinkema, Paul Parish, Michael Kinkema, Tanner Morton, Vanessa Morton, Sara and Louis Kinkema; 1 great-grandchild, Miciah Serne; 1 sister, Gladys (Robert) Butcher of Detroit, and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Jones. Services for Harold will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, April 16, 2011 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. William Langlois presiding. Burial will take place in Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorial Contributions in honor of Harold may be given to American Lung Association.
