DEATH CALL ----- SUMMONS WELL KNOWN LADY OF NEW WASHINGTON THURSDAY
Mrs. Elizabeth Alt, wife of Joseph Alt, died in Liberty township, where she had been for only four days, at 9 o'clock Thursday morning. She had suffered for a number of months from valvular legions of the heart and this was the cause of death. Her home was in New Washington.
The funeral was held from St. Bernard's Catholic church in New Washington Monday morning at 8:30. burial in the Catholic cemetery.
Mrs. Alt was the daughter of Frank and Katie (Frisch) Bishop, and was born June 23, 1856, her age at death being 54 years, 6 months and 8 days. She is survived by her husband and family, She was a true and noble Christian womam, a kind neighbor, a loyal friend, and a devoted helpmeet. She was respected and esteemed by those who knew her, and her memory will be held sacred by many hearts,
Also mentioned in another newspaper - Mrs. Joseph Alt, mother of Frederick Alt of this place died December 29, 1910, at the home of her daughter Mrs. Wesley Saull, near Brokensword, at the age of 54 years, 4 months and 1 day. She was attacked with heart failure and died in a few hours. Deceased's maiden name was Elizabeth Bishoff and she was born and grew to womanhood near Havana. February 28, 1879, she was married to Joseph Alt and for eleven years they resided in Reed Township. Funeral was held Monday of last week. The husband four sons and three daughters survive. Her death was the third in the family within a period of six months, a son and daughter having preceded her.
