U.S. Congressman. He studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1826 and commenced to practice law in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania. Entering politics, he was a member of the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives, (1837-38). In 1839, he was elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-sixth and Twenty-seventh Congresses, serving until resigned due to illness in 1841. He died shortly after leaving office at age 36.
