Pembroke - Mrs. Esther Shuman Futch, 89, died Wednesday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah after a short illness.

The Georgia native was a member of Pembroke First Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Cecil Futch of Pembroke and Grover C. Futch Jr. of Atlanta; four daughters, Mrs. Verna Pevey of Savannah, Mrs. Latrel Ledford of Hayesville, N.C., and Mrs. Odell Walters and Mrs. Mary Burnsed, both of Pembroke; a brother, Earl Shuman of Pembroke; and 23 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday at Morrison Funeral Home in Pembroke, burial in North Side Cemetery in Pembroke.
