Oressa Lee was born in Chanute, Kansas, to John Wesley and Mayme (Platt) Heminger. For her entire life she would be known by the nickname of "Johnny", which was given to her by her father who had hoped for a boy. Oressa embraced her new moniker completely.

She attended high school in Chanute and upon graduation traveled to Kansas City to find work. She was employed by the Kinear Door Company as a secretary. It was here that she would meet and later marry her beloved husband, Davis Hudson Estill, who was a young dashing U.S. Army Captain. Her life was forever different. She lived with her husband when possible including the Panama Canal Zone; San Juan, Puerto Rico to mention a few.

When her husband Dave was medically discharge from service they settled in Coral Gables, Florida where their life was consumed with parties, boating and just enjoying their lives.

Note by the maker of this memorial: Johnny was my maternal Great Grand Aunt. James Blanton
