William Ray McClellan was born on November 11, 1906, in Pottawatomie, Oklahoma, Ray grew up in Mulberry, Arkansas area. James Leonard was 27 his father, and his mother Sarah Malinda Campbell , his mother was 22 years of age. At age 23 Ray was stilling living at home with parents and sister. The family had moved from the farm in Mulberry to River Street in Ozark. The depression had hit the area hard. Floods and other financial issues forced the family to leave the farm and seek employment in the town of Ozark. Ray and Frankie Bea Cannon were married on October 14, 1931, in Ozark, Arkansas. They had three children: John Harlan, Sarah Ray McClellan Bennett, and David Burt McClellan. Ray died on August 2, 1988, in Longview, Texas, at the age of 81. Ray as he was called all his adult life worked for E. M. Burt Tank company for over 30 years. He sold oil field equipment and was responsible for the development of oil field equipment still used today in various oil patches. Ray was a horse lover. He raised some of the finest blood line quarter horse to be found anywhere.
