Daughter of Edward Charles McDonald and Susan Ellen Peake McDonald. Grew up in Hannibal, Missouri. Married James T (Towson?)Coakley in 1868 in St. Louis. At some point in her adult life, she joined The Order of St. Mary's, an Episcopal Order and was known as Sister Angela. She was working in Memphis, Tennessee for the order when she became ill with cancer, and returned to St. Louis to be cared for by family members. Buried next to her mother and husband in the Bellfontaine cemetery. She was described as a very caring and giving woman who dedicated her life to helping others.
