Mrs. Mattie Barker, lifetime Odessan, died Saturday morning at her home, 207 Fourth Street. She was 81 years old. Mrs. Barker had not been ill and her death was unexpected.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Chuch. The Rev. Jerry Seabough officiated, and burial was in Greenton Cemetery. Pallbearers were Howard Lee Barker, Murel Barker, Allen Barker, Buford Barker, Gene Hardacre and Russell Barker.

Mattie Laura Barker, daughter of Mary Ann McClure and Matthew Barker, was born December 9, 1882, in Odessa. She was married January 30, 1901, to Lon Barker, who preceded her in death on January 6, 1948.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Odessa.

Survivors include two sons, Joe Barker and Lonnie R. Barker, Odessa; four daughters, Mrs. W. A. Smith, Centerview; Mrs. George Gamblin and Mrs. Clarence Bishop, Odessa; and Mrs. Raymond Dyer, Whittier, Calif.; two brothers, Elmer M. Barker and John Wesley Barker, both of Odessa; 27 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
