Guy W. Meeks was born in Coffee County, GA June 19, 1927 and died January 1, 2013 in at Baptist Village Retirement Communities following an extended illness.

He was a native of Coffee Co. and grew up in Nicholls, GA. but had made his home in Ware Co. for the past 32 years. He was the son of the late Waldo Meeks and Claire Moore Meeks. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Adams, three sons, Arthur Richard Meeks, Bill Meeks, and David Meeks, a grandson, Michael Bryant, a great grandson, Kyle Perkins, two brothers, Elbert E. Meeks, and Phillip T. Meeks, and a sister, Yvonne Meeks Dedlongis.

Mr. Meeks retired from CSX Railroad as a welder after many years of service. He was a member of Gilchrist Park United Methodist Church where he had served as music director, choir member, and had taught the Men's Sunday School Class for many years until declining health.

He served during World War II with the United States Army and was a longtime member of the American Legion Ware Post # 10. He was a private pilot for many years and enjoyed flying in his own private aircraft.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Wilma Agnes Cox Carter Meeks of Waycross, four step-children, Linda G. Bryant (husband Bobby) of Waycross, Patsy Bohanon (husband Otis) of Brantley County, Clyde Carter of Waycross, and Susan Fowler (husband Mark) of Pierce County; eight grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, a great great granddaughter; a sister, Ineva Fraser of Jacksonville, FL and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to a special granddaughter, Stephanie Kicklighter for her love, devotion, and care and to the staff of Baptist Village Retirement Communities for the love and care extended to the Meeks family.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Legion Ware Post # 10, 871 Tebeau St, Waycross, GA 31501 or to Baptist Village Retirement Communities, 2650 Carswell Ave, Waycross, GA 31503.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, January 4, 2013, at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Friday at Music Funeral Home.
