Collision Kills Shepherd Man

Edgar J. Decker, 64, of 3805 W. Prairie, Shepherd, was killed last night in an accident near Oil City.

Decker was making a right turn off M-20 onto Lewis Road, when his pickup truck was hit in the right rear by a car driven by Edwin Earl Reinink, 33, of 3819 Moorland Drive, Midland.

Decker's pickup was knocked across the road, and Decker and his passenger, Vern W. Crowley, 73, of R-1 W. Prairie, Shepherd, were thrown out.

Crowley is listed in fair condition with head injuries in CMC Hospital, Mt. Pleasant; Reinink was not hospitalized.

Mr. Decker was born on April 20, 1904 in Van Wert, Ohio, He was a retired truck driver, formerly employed with the Fisher Sand and Gravel Co. of Midland.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 20 at the Garber Funeral Home in Shepherd with Rev. Arthur A. Austin officiating. Burial will be in the Kelly Cemetery.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Donna Doyle of Mt. Pleasant; a son, Raymond J. Decker at home and one grandchild.

Also surviving are six brothers, Charles Decker of Battle Creek; Jesse Decker of Pompeii; George Decker of Shepherd; Fred Decker of St. Louis; Jay Decker of Lansing and Ray Decker of Alma; and two sisters, Mrs. William (Mable) Brickner of Shepherd and Mrs. Merrit (Mary) Ward of Jackson.
