Mrs. Wilhelmina Knudson (Wilhelmina Almquist) was born in Emmaboda, Wissef-Jerda Formling, Sweden, October 2th, 1850, and died at her home in Cass County, Wednesday evening, Nov 17th 1920. She was 70 years and 23 days old at her death.
She was married to Nels August Hanson in 1871 in Sweden. They came to America in 1888, making their home first at Hawley, Minn.
She was the mother of 11 children born to this union. They are Carl Hanson, Haggaman, New Mex.; Fritz Hanson, Brainerd, Minn.; Mrs. Theressa McKenzie, San Francisco, California; Mrs. Alda Perkins, Nimrod, Minn.; Conrad Hanson, Henryburg, Can; Elmer Hanson, Deerwood, Minn.; Mrs. Victoria Bordwell, Deerwood, Minn.; Mrs. Alta Jenkins, Staples, Minn.; Mrs. Sophia Loss (sic - name is Foss), Staples, Minn.; Mrs. Anna Iroin (sic - name is Irwin), Seattle, Wash.; Oscar Hanson, Staples, Minn.
Being left in widowhood she was again married to Jacob Knudson, August 13th 1908. She was reared in the Swedish Lutheran faith and was confirmed in her girlhood. She was an upright, virtuous christian woman with much strength of character. A self sacrificing, loving mother, a kindly, helpful neighbor has gone from this community to try the realities of the unseen world.
The funeral services were held at the house on Sunday, Nov 21st at 2:30 p.m. conducted by Rev. F. L. Erlougher. The body was interred in the cemetery at the school house on Monday morning, Nov. 22, having been held awaiting the arrival of a daughter from the west. Owing to the illness of Rev. F. L. Erlougher, Mrs. William Hand read the burial service.
