Benjamin served in the Revolutionary War as a corporal under Capt Zebediah Ingalls in the town of Pomfret per the DAR Online Database (Ancestor #A104727).
His age at death of 70 would match the age of the Benjamin Smith who was baptized 10 April 1726 in Edgartown, Dukes Co, Mass and whose parents were Thomas Smith and Elizabeth Bassett. Barbour Collection Vital Records of Pomfret and DNA evidence points to the above to be true. Anyone with more proof/information, please let me know.
