William H. Moffeit/Moffiet was the son of Oran D. Moffeit (1802-1848) and Elizabeth Wilkens Moffeit. His first wife was Sarah Gibson. The children of William and Sarah were James, William, Joseph, Francis, Laura, Sarah, John, Mary and Annie. William's second wife was Martha "Mattie" Norris, and she was the widow of John Robert Bussey. The childten of William and Martha were Mattie and Odessa. William died before June 1880.
