The funeral of Mrs. Ann Newman took place Nov. 16, and there were 38 cars i nline, and several more which met at the Church. She was born in Ireland, and came as a young girl to Amenia more than 50 years ago. She had lived in Amenia since then, except for a few years spent in Verbank with her first husband, Jerry Maloney, who died in 1887. She married William Patrick Newman in 1890. He was lost at sea in 1905. In 1922 she lost her sight. Her daughter, Mrs. Mary Berhardt, who was living in New York City, came home to care for her and remained until the end.
