Marjorie Kelley Vickrey Carl, 87, of Germantown, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on April 1st, 2011.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Judge James A. "Tick" Vickrey and is survived by her loving husband Robert D. Carl of Germantown, her daughter, Mona Hoover of Cordova, Tennessee, her son, Ray Vickrey and wife Lisa of Middleboro, Kentucky, her sister, Frances Dean of Boone, North Carolina, six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
She attended Arkansas State Teachers College and the University of Missouri. She was very active in the Methodist Church in Hayti where she was a Sunday School teacher and a youth director. She was a member of the Germantown United Methodist Church. She always lived her Christian walk and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She was especially close to her granddaughter, Kelly Hoover Greenway and her husband John who lived in Cordova, now of New York City. One of her favorite activities was dancing and that is where she met her husband Bob Carl. They truly had a wonderful marriage and were touched by God's hand. She also enjoyed playing cards and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi for twenty years.
A memorial service was held at The Village of Germantown at a later date. Memphis Funeral Home is in charge with burial at 10:30, on Tuesday, April 5th, 2011 at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele.
