Andreas Lehmann was born July 1, 1807 in Gross Saubernitz, Niederschlesischer Oberlausitzkreis, Sachsen, Germany.

In 1837 he married Maria Aanna Mehle b May 11, 1811 in Groß (Gross) Saubernitz, Niederschlesischer Oberlausitzkreis, Sachsen, Germany d 20 Jan 1870 Serbin, Lee County, Texas, the daughter of Maria Schulze b 17 Jan 1797 in Fulda, Fulda, Hessen, Germany d 17 Mar 1869 GroBenluder, Fulda, Hessen, Germany, and, Johannes Palman Mehle b in Fulda, Fulda, Hessen, Germany.

The Germans persecuted the Wends continuously by forbidding them to worship their Lutheran doctrine or speak their Slavic language. So the Wends decided to form their own church and go to America. The first group left on the Ben Nevis first stopping in England due to illness on board, then on to America where they landed in Galveston Texas. Several ships followed, except that no Wends came to America during the years of the Civil War.

Andreas brought his family to America in 1859 aboard the Bark "Iris" which sailed from Weigersdorf to Shelby then landed on Galveston Island, Galveston, Texas.

- Andreas Eduard b 08 Sep 1841 - married Christiana Wukasch b 27 Apr 1845 d 31 Aug 1923; to this union 3 children were born, Carl August b 16 Apr 1875 d 08 Apr 1952; Maria b about 1878, and Johann b Nov 1880.

- August Frank b 08 Sep 1843 d 12 Apr 1895, 23 May 1875 married Clara Augusta Adams b 14 Nov 1856 d 06 Jun 1936, to this union 9 children were born, seven daughters and two sons.

- Johnathan Carl August b 08 Sep 1843 d 26 Aug 1907, 13 Apr 1876 married Anna Maria Patschke Paulo b 13 Jan 1854 d 05 Nov 1916, to this union was born Hermann Gerhard, Sr. b 24 May 1879 d 21 Jan 1965; he married Annie Marie Muesse, they had 5 children, two daughters and three sons, the last son was stillborn.

Andreas left Galveston taking his family to Lee County where they settled, living on Rabbs Creek, near Serbin.

Andreas lost his wife of 33 years on 20 Jan 1870, age 58 years, died in Serbin, Lee County, Texas. Andreas would join her 26 years later, 07 Nov 1896, age 89 years, and was buried in the Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery.

Together they led a very full life, immigrating to Texas, building a home, while raising their 7 children.
