Pleasant Point – James Stephen Barnes, 37, died unexpectedly Sunday, November 4, 2007. Jimmy was born in Eastport, November 6, 1969, son of Maxwell and Mary (Morrison) Barnes. He did a lot of seasonal work, digging clams, picking sweet grass and tipping. Jimmy also worked as a carpenter when he could.

Surviving are his parents, Maxwell and Mary Barnes; and two daughters, Keisha and Karina Barnes. Jimmy held a special place in his heart for the mother of children, Brenda Green. Also surviving are his two sisters, Lisa DeMolet and her husband Timothy of Pleasant Point, and Amy Barnes and her companion Basil Leighton Jr. of Charlotte; three brothers, Joseph Barnes and his wife Dorothy, David Barnes and his companion Jennifer Lewey, and Walter Sockabasin, all of Pleasant Point; his "brotha" Darren Paul and his wife Donna, and their children, Andre', Kristin and Jacob; and his nieces and nephews, Chelsea, Cassandra, Destinee and Joseph Barnes Jr., Timothy, Jenna and Riley DeMolet, Skilah Leighton, and Walter and Diora Sockabasin.
Burial will be in Restlawn Cemetery in Perry. (Mays Funeral Home on-line)
